7/28 – Last few days have been productive… couldn’t move into our new place until yesterday… the place is beautiful! I will take a few pics of the view, but it is raining now, and won’t do it justice. We are headed to Tamarindo tomorrow for a real estate training class, 3 hour drive in the morning, and maybe coming back, maybe not. Surfed the last two mornings, and the waves are pretty good. Got my first barrel since moving down yesterday morning, and this morning had a few really nice turns that made me happy.

This morning we went with our friend to check out his dog in action. He has a Belgium Malenwa (not spelled right). It was the most ridiculous thing that I have seen! They did a drill where he was driving in his car with his dog sitting shotgun, a guy jumps out from behind a tree (in a bite suit) and starts beating on the car. My friend rolls down the window attacks the guy and at his command let go and jumped back into the car through the window. I think we are getting one! I would feel pretty comfortable with Sarah walking around with one of them… more later. E.
Anther entry, and on another trip to Nosara from San Jose.. to recap the last few days, got into Nosara late Friday night, there was a party going on at the pool where we were staying for Kristins birthday, drank a few beers but tired quickly. Saturday we slept in and went to breakfast with Chip and his kids (am I sure I want kids yet???). Surfed Guiones, super fun, and not even that good. Walked to Ponchos for dinner. Sunday Adu and I walked to surf guiones, a 30 minute walk, with pretty good waves, overhead and fun. Got back to the house, and Chip wanted to go to Marbella, sick wave. Real quick and dumpy, kind of like a nicer Hermosa. (Harrison, we just passed snacks!!! Ha, I wish your stoke factor was here… Costa misses you) Chips car broke on the way back, a defender at that, and we stood on the side of the road for a while.

On Monday, we took the Sansa flight from Nosara to San Jose, killer trip, only 40 minutes, beats the 5 hour drive that I am on now. Oh, we didn’t get to move in over the weekend, supposed to do that today. Anyways, San Jose was 2 days of errands… fun. No real stores except that we had the hookup for a driver. Claduio and Menor are the ticket, for 120 per day (talking 12 hour days) we had a choffeur tour guide, security for our stuff…well worth the money. Sarah’s flight was delayed 4 hours, so she didn’t arrive until after midnight on Monday. Technically Tuesday. Andrew bought a car, nice Hyaundai Gslloper, from our lawyer… car dealer/lawyer combo… go figure, its costa. Now we are headed back home??? That sounds weird. Today we are supposed to get into our new place, can’t wait to jam out on the deck! Posting should be more frequent now. Oh, and my Spanish is getting better by the day…. Major con los dias. Adios y Buena suerta mis amigos. Lluego. Erik.
Hola from Costa Rica! We aren’t quite home yet, as Sarah and Mackie are still in los estados unidos. My mind is still so numb from the last few weeks that this will be as bumpy a read as the drive I am currently on… just got picked up at the al aueropuerto by Menos, Claudio (who was supposed to pick us up) brother. Only five more hours of driving, two days of moving, a flight back to San Jose on Monday, a day of shopping and picking up Sarah at the airport on Monday night, and a drive back to Nosara and I can relax. Fuck.

Some notes about the move…

Moving sucks! Moving out of the country is hell.

After six years of being married, I am still madly in love… You shouldn’t get upset about being away from someone for 3 days…

I am in Costa Rica, and surfing is not on my mind…this one is weird.

I have had butterlfies for the last month that beer wouldn’t take away.

I am going to miss my friends a ton.

I am going to miss my family more.

It is not fun having to fly a dog. Sandy came out in Costa Rica shaking, it will take a few days to get over.

If I feel this way about a dog, how am I going to feel about my daughter? I think fucking with her may be a bad idea.

I hope Coastal Web continues to grow…I have put a lot of love into it, and am extremely proud of our last six months.

You accumulate a bunch of shit when you stay in one place for a long time! And apparently I need 65 pounds of stuff to live and 4 surfboards… Sarah needs 140 pounds. Sarah needs her scrapbooking stuff and books, mine is all altheletic and electronic.

Later On/Hasta Lluego mis amigos!

Next Friday is the big day!!!! I don't even know what I am feeling anymore. There is so much going on right now I am just numb to it all. Tuesday is our last day in St. Auggie, and tonight is our big bailing out party, with all the buds coming in from all over the state... well, mainly jax.

I hope to get some pics of everyone tonight and post a few up.

On a political note, why don't folks just stop worrying about that patch of dirt over there in the middle east... I guess Costa will be a good place to be during WWIII. Don't think many folks will be invading Nosara.

Here is the current rundown...

Tickets are set, I fly the 21st and Sarah is coming down the 24th... this sucks, but it is the only way to get down before August 5th. The issue was our pups, and that no airlines, well one, fly dogs to costa during the summer... That one happens to be Martin Air, and we are flying from Sanford to San Jose. I am bummed as Sarah will be coming in by her lonesome at 8 at night, I won't have a reliable car and am going to have to figure out a way to get her from the Airport, I'll be damned if she is just going to catch a cab...

We have a house, sick, sick house! We talked to Brandon, our landlord, and he said it is ready.

We bought a cheap car, a trooper for 1000 bucks, split it with Andrew to get us around until we can find some nice cars.

Our house back home is rented!!!!

We are almost all done with the moving.

And I haven't surfed in a week, no time, getting cranky... I need some right about now, but I have a feeling that it may be Costa the next time i get in the water.

Peace!
