Written Saturday Aug. 12th…
A dangerous game… So with all of the drama from the last week, which included quitting a job and getting a better one, we felt the need to unwind yesterday afternoon. Waves were pretty fun, so Adu and I surfed for our lunch break and then had a meeting with at our new office to go over some stuff. Parents, don’t be worried, this will be a better opportunity, with better growth options. Our buddy Nick wanted to come up to the house and have a few beers during sunset, so we picked him up and headed to the house. Then someone had the horrible idea of playing frizbeer, which you really can’t refuse. Problem was, no Frisbee or broomsticks. Who is that gonna stop? The problem was solved by using my dinner plate (we all bought color coordinated plate and bowl, so you don’t have to do anyone else’s dishes.. working out well) in place of the Frisbee and decided that machete’s would make good broomsticks. We didn’t have a table so beers were on the ground. The plate flew surprisingly well. On our Sarah and my first turn to drink (water in Sarah’s case) I ran up and used my skill to down the half cup of Dos Equis to find that there was a big grasshopper in it, whom I guess didn’t like getting drunk and kicked my tongue. We only played one game, then watched the sunset. If you only come down for one reason, it may be for the sunsets… I can’t really explain them, but they sure aren’t like back home.
This week we will be getting the car! Turns out the motor was also blown and is being rebuilt… the mechanic priced this into the estimate, I just didn’t find out about it until Thursday. 275 bucks to rebuild a motor here! Including towing the car to Nicoya the entire expense will be under 2k.
We found the house we will be moving into, and I am happy with it… I will miss the view, but we will now be a 2 minute walk to the beach, and 2 minute drive to the office. The new house also has bars and an alarm which are both good things. On the security front, our new pups should be coming home in the next week. That will be fun! It is going to be interesting raising dogs that you don’t socialize with your friends. But, they aren’t pets, they’re working dogs. And it will make me feel very safe to have our new bud protecting Sarah if I am out.
On a business note, Surfingnosara.com had over 65,000 hits this week, and produced a few property leads. It is nice to see an idea start to work. Each day our popularity is growing, and I haven’t started the mailing list yet.
Oh, and family… Come on down! We are having a blast here, and you all would love it! For momma there is endless beaches to walk and read on, for Amy there’s monkeys and other weird animals, for bub and Bob there’s ridiculous fishing and the British Pub, for Dad you can still ride dirt bikes and quads safely, and for Momma hummer there is your pregnant daughter’s belly to play with… Late, E.
